How's the mix ?

Sounds good! really clean, i would have liked to hear more stereo drums, but good bass and snare sounds. I like the doubled vocals as well.

Mix sounded pretty good. Is that Hebrew? I thought I was having trouble making out the vocals, then I realized it was in a different language...lol.

that sounds great....i really like the tone of the clean main guitar...very sweet...how was this recorded.....

Yes, this is hebrew...

Recorded on my Fostex M80 reel to reel. I HATE digital recorders

But that has costed me in mono drums mixed internally on a Solton MS50 arranger... great drum sounds aren't they ?

Guitar is my modified strat on my silverface twin reverb,
used to have crappy sovtek tubes the time I recorded it though.

Guitar and vocals using a SM58.

I heard opinions saying the drums are too loud.

I made them a bit "over" the group because the drums have the role of driving the track "rocky" (all other tracks are "soft" sounding).

Real nice! The only thing I'd complain about is the drums being too loud, but excellent sound on this one.

Its good to hear something done in analog by a bbs member. I've actually been wanting to hear what other than 2" machines can do. too bad you had to stick with mono drums though, it opens everything up so much when they are in stereo, specifically the cymbals; you used the doubled vocals well to open things up a bit.
 
My thoughts .....

I like the song. I like the arrangement. I particulary like the "clean" guitar (1st guitar) up against the more heavily reverbed guitar. I also enjoyed the section where the guitar's drop out and it's just vocal/bass/drums (about 48 seconds in) - very effective.

Regarding the mix - I really didn't have a problem with the level of the drums. However, after reading someone else's post it does seem that the vocals get lost a little behind the drums - especially during the 1st verse (starting around 23 seconds in). Also, you might consider bringing up the bass - especially if you lower the drums. The bass (on my system) gets lost after the intro.

All in all - very nice job.

(PS - I'd love to hear the song end with the clean-guitar hitting the final chord with plenty of "whammy-bar" applied - not a fast whammy, but a slow -single oscillation. It sounded like you might have been using the whammy subtley throughout the song).
 
nice open and deep sound on your mix with great separation on the instuments. Drums are a little punchy, but I love hearing a drum from the attack all the way to the end of the decay with that kind of clarity.
 
Like this mix very much. Don't have any advise for this one except the missing stereo tom rolls.

The last thing I would like to ask you -

so far, the first thing almost almost everyone who heard
the song said to me was something like
"What machine plays the drums ?"
or "Is this your computer"

Talking about avarage listeners, not musicians.
Even my 14 years old cousine has asked me that.

Well, I know it sounds like a drum machine and I have no problem with that, but do you think it degrades the overall feeling in the song and I should record them live ? Or do the drums sound "right" to you, the way implemented in this mix...?

This issues has been holding me a for while, waiting to decide what to do with the drums ...

I think it's the open hi-hat that gives an overall "drum machine" feeling.
