I love wasting time,

the clips will come soon as, I have a bit of backlog to work through amongst the rest before I can allow myself to record drum parts PATIENCE my friends

BTW the 18 isn't floating my boat as much as the 20 so it's now the 20 open headed into the 22 with no heads into the 24 with batter head & front head+hole. I'm still tweaking & tweaning the whole set up

& if anyone's interested

20" kick is a 1966 sonor
22" kick is a premier Genista as is the 24" kick

I also have a photographer who has a desire to photograph my motley kit

I can tell you something there's no arguing the sound that it's producing & if it gives me a different/better bassdrum sound then it hasn't been a waste of time to me

I know a good sound can be got from using just one kick, I've been doing it for approx 6 years now I was looking at four bassdrums stacked up in a a corner & thought sod it what if

& then thought how would I mic this baby to record it??, & then thought I wonder if any good natured threadsters have tried similar things & if so how did they do it or if not how would they deal with this set up in a studio if I was a hypothetical customer with a lot of cash

& one last point if you didn't mean to offend mister why did you then put moronic at the end of your post?? I feel offended & my bass drum parade well untruly rained on

...i think its a great idea btw
sometimes i like to change my setup completely and switch everything around and set it up like different professional drummers kits...
(just got done with the "jon theodore" setup, now we are on "chad smith") its great fun... you've probly done this before, no?
(within reason of course, i dont have a million cymbals like some)

I have done the ol' different people's kits thing Mitch Mitchell & Bohnam definately 2 favourites. I am in the fortunate position of having lots of cymbals to play around with as well as a lot of drums

right now I've got a motley collection of 60s Sonor, Remo Masteredge & premier Genista & APK & it sounds freakin' fantastic. I'm still tweaking at things, the toms (6 of) go from real high pitch all the way to really low

it's a an ace setup that has revived my want to experiment (waste time) & try out various things like Bozzio's multi layered cymbal things. I have sevral cracked cymbals, an 18" china & a 14" USN???? cymbal amongst 1 or 2 others that sound REALLY NASTY

I' plan to record a funky blues drum track with the telescopic bass drum kit for a blues album I'm finishing with my dad so watch this space
