so....I have a peavey vypyr amp that im using via usb to record direct....I tryied it with a behringer uca222 interface but i could never monitor what i was recording, so will a better interface fix my problem?

The 222 has a 3.5mm jack for headphone monitoring, and whatever daw you're recording into should also be able to monitor it, although you usually need to enable track input monitoring or something like that.

AFAICT that Peavey is an audio interface all on its own so the UCA 222 is redundant for this purpose. Login to Peavey and download the handbook if you don't have it then you might need to download some drivers and other software from them.

Once that is done you MIGHT be able to monitor via the actual amp from the laptop but latency will probably preclude this. Best to start saving for a proper audio interface and that is a WHOLE other question! If you want the best there is (imo) under £200 Google NI KA6.

Dave.
