I intend having more than one set of monitor speakers to check my mix with different types of speakers. I've been looking for a speaker switch for speakers with rca inputs -- they seem to have a lot of them in the UK but I can't for the life of me find similar in US. What do you guys use to easily switch between different monitors (without fiddling around with plugging in and unplugging stuff). I don't need it to be an amp too - just needs to be a good quality passive switch that won't introduce any noise or artifacts.

How many outs do you have on your interface/soundcard?

Most sequencers let you set up out pairs to go to whichever ports.

I use Reaper and it takes a second to mute my main outs and switch to another pair I use for my headphone amp; no hardware neccesary....

I use the mackie big knob to switch monitors, not use to other small switches to switch between monitors...mackie big knob is a must have for home studios.

while sellinghifi years ago we carried a box by Niles that was designed for multi room systems that really wasn't bad... most of those things are junk and can in somecases harm amps... try the high end stereo shops...

After decades of farting around with what's available I gave up and made my own based on an expensive one I took apart. None of the commercially available ones I've seen were any good. A friend had an expensive Niles and it was the ok but limited. They all seem to have the problem that the connections on the back are a paper width away from shorting. The Niles was horrible in that respect.

Mine cost me maybe $20 and I use it every day, to me it absolutely blows everything else out of the water. As Buddy Rich said, it ain't braggin' if you can back it up.

It was all made with bozo toggle switches and there's no pops. It A/B's between your main monitors and 4 other pairs instantly. It's a prototype that cosmetics were not considered when making (that means it looks like shit):

For a brief period I had my KRK Rokit 5s hooked up to my monitor outs on my MBox2, they were my main monitors. Then I ran a stereo 1/4" jack - L+R RCA cable from the headphone out to a Sony stereo, which I used as an amp for 2 Bose monitors (don't know the model number, great speakers though). Switching between the two was just a matter of turning the mon output down and the headphone out up, or vica versa.

I want to switch between three speakers using only one amp.

Signal flow as follows: Ashley Protea EQ System (128 presets i can switch easily between presets), EV amp, The switch I need to buy(or build), Yamaha NS10s or Alesis Monitor Two, or home speakers. Because I have the Ashley EQ I think it would be cost effective to use it instead of buying more amps.

OR do you think something like this would work: audioplex dot com/ABC
