How to (really) change strings on your guitar

Fairly well done. I don't worry about taking them all off at once, but then when I'm changing strings for a customer I'm always at least cleaning the fingerboard, so I have to take them all off. And I didn't notice you actually telling people to cut the excess string, but I was kind of speed reading and might have missed it. Still, it's important as those damn things are dangerous. But you know, we all do things a little different, and you've got nothing incorrect, so sure thing.

Hi! OK so I know, we all know how to change strings...or do we? Anyway, we published this handy instructional article which revisits this often overlooked issue and gives a step-by-step guide on how to change strings on different bridges (because not all are created equal!)

It's OK, I guess; it's not rocket science. I don't worry about changing them one at a time or messing with that over/under thing with the first wrap. At least it's not telling you to tie a knot at the peg or go through the hole twice like some sites advocate; that's really silly and a PITA to undo the next time you change strings.

One thing I've learned to do is to trim the ends a little longer and make a hairpin bend in what's left; that way you don't stab yourself if you accidentally bump the headstock. A 3/4 inch stub of unwound G is the worst...

One tip you might want to add to the section on Bigsby Trems: Use a foam wedge to hold the strings in place on the pins until they're. It greatly reduces the frustration factor, makes it so the "curl" isn't so critical and speeds things up quite a bit.
