How to place kicks in cubase

I'm used to FL studio but just starting using cubase. I was wondering how to place my kicks. I read on another forum about taking sampled kicks and copying them and aligning them individually but isn't there an easier "funner" way like there was in FL? I would just hit record and tap the keyboard.
