The title seems self explanatory.

A friend of mine just sent me a cubase project recorded with an older version, I think it was cubase SX.
if I open it with my cubase le5 it shows an error message saying that version can't open files from v 5.1.0.

Can anyone help me with this?

SX=Cubase 5.
SL=Studio 5
LE=LE any version

Can't open what was recorded in the "big" version in the light version.

You would have to own Cubase 5 in order to open it.

to be honest I though the LE was better than the SX...
I guess not then... makes sense... I think I do have an older version of cubase that I can instal on my pc.

I'm just going to wait a bit longer and find out if Reaper can open cubase files somehow. I preffer to work with Reaper, rather than cubase (although I'm still testing Reaper).

Yeah the version number has nothing to do with it unless it's something like you are trying to open a cubase 5 project in Cubase 4.

It's stupid, it's incredibly stupid. Thank god they shit canned that nonsense in the cubase 6 series.

so, what would be the best way to share an ongoing composition with someone.
I'm trying to do a work with a friend of mine and we're doing the composition by bits. For instance, he just handed me the intro and first verse, i planned on adding a couple of stuff to it and returning to him so he could carry on and add more on his end.

what would be the best way for each of us to share these files?

btw, Guitargodgt I saw your webpage, nice studio you got there ;) I also watched some your videos on youtube, pretty cool too.

The best way with 2 different daws/versions of daws is to swap the wav files back and forth.

if we share a dropbox linked folder that's updated everytime one of us works on the file, would it work?
