How to monitor your line in through computer speakers?

I did this on my last computer, but can't remember how I had it set up. I would mic my guitar amp and would be able to hear everything through my computer speakers so I could check my tone and what not. How can I set this up again? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

should be in Windows Mixer. Go to Control Panel and Audio Devices, or whatever you have, make sure "line in" is selected, and the volume is high enough to hear

Just use the volume controls on your soundcard.

You should be able to adjust the relative volume of what you've already recorded versus what your currently monitoring
