I quite agree.

I have 12 characters assigned to a mixer strip each and all they require is a 7-band graphic each; with a common send to an 'environment' reverb which gives a sense of indoors/outdoors... That's it! But then, I have this one snippet which sounds like someone threw a bucket over my head and stuck the mic at the bottom of a sand pit. That one wav needed a track of it's own, loaded with para EQ, band filter, two compressors, a noise gate and tons of strip EQ. It's definitely overkill but it works and saved me having to record that small clip again. You can't actually tell its there at first but you would soon know about it if the FX were suddenly disabled.

I could probably have recorded it again in less time than it took to polish the turd but it created an opporunity to see just what can/can't be retrieved.

Here's the final finished product: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?oy2jzmzaz2c

What did you guys think of the overall composition of the song? and I saw that a couple of you thought that the song in the video didn't have much stereo spread and was overly-compressed. See if you notice a difference between the sound in the vid and the sound of the finished product.

And I agree, maybe this should have gone in the newbies section...I just figured that it was a video on "mixing" so it should go in the "mixing techniques" forum.

Newbies should look in all the forums though.

This is an 8 part video series on how to mix a song from beginning to end using mixcraft 5. Now, obviously not everyone uses mixcraft but the theory and instructions will be the same... Only difference is, your DAW may look a little different. There are quite a few techniques and how-to's in these videos that will answer simple questions and maybe even some more advanced questions.
Depending on how useful people find these videos, maybe we could get a sticky for all the people who want to start mixing their own music and maybe even for some people who understand mixing but have a few questions.

Well, Here they are ;)

nice info for me i m searching for many times

is vocsteady just a compressor?

I'm looking at that and thinking "That looks a lot simpler than the compressors I've been using!" but it has to be limited - right?
