I am still a reletive "Newbie". I am getting the hang of things but I still really want to learn more about compression, EQ, and just overall mixing. I think books are generally good but it is hard for me when I cannot hear whats going on. I heard of a cd-rom that came out that looked good (please tell me where to find it if you know what I am talking about). I have scoured the internet and have learned a lot and still have many more resources on here, but I like to also have tsomething to take with me on trips and what not (hence my liking of books.) I have scheduled days this summer to go to some studios and just sit in and learn, but that is very minimal.
My request is a list of all the favorite books, sites, and or other ideas on how you learned what you have learned and how I can become better. I also subscribe to 3 magazines, which I also really enjoy. Thanks in advance.

All these suggestions have been great. i just got on with a studio so I will be able to learn a lot. Some of my weak points are with hardware (mixers, patch bays, external effects etc.) and this is the perfect place to learn. I will actually get to work with real bands doing producing and engineering. I am actually starting to get an ear for compressors. I couldn't tell the difference between them before, now it is starting to make more sense. Thanks everyone. Keep the ideas coming if you can.
