Thanks for all the useful advice so far guys.

Now, I have a Pro Tools LE/ Digi001 setup and intend to purchase a Neumann TLM103 mic to start recording seriously. Problem is I only have one tiny room, 7ft x 7ft to record in, which contains all the equipment as well.

I'm concerned about noise from the computer and the rest of the house seeping into recordings, as the room has not been treated for acoustics at all. Will I need to treat it, if so, how, or should it generally be okay please?

Also, should I get a compressor unit?

Simple & cost free solution is to hang a blanket in a corner and use it as I mic booth. Or get a long enough mic cable to reach into a bathroom or another room thats isolated from noise. The Digi001 should have some compressor plug ins you can use, but an external Comp. isn't a bad idea. But most good ones aren't cheap !

Thanks. You are right, I actually forgot that the Pro Tools LE does come with a compressor plug in.

When you say hang a blanket in a corner do you mean literally do that and then just move the mic to that corner. It's just that some people are telling me to move away from walls and corners, so i'm a bit confused

Well, It doesn't have to be a corner, just create an isolation booth to trap out noise. Thats if you really want to deaden the sound with no natural room effect.

Compressors will only amplify ambient sounds and room reflections so use them carefully.

I am told that an outboard compressor like the Focusrite Platinum is much better than the ProTools plug-in that comes with the system. Any true? To be honest I am more comfortable with the hardware stuff, however if what I have on the PTLE will do, then fine.

That statement is pretty much true. But like I said they aint cheap !!!!
If your more comfortable with outboard, then go for it;)
Focusrite Platinum=MSRP of $750

Ask your room acoustics question over in the Studio Building forum. Supply a description of your room to include dimension. Lots of knowledgeable people over there who'll be glad to help.
