So I'm here about to go into the studio tomorrow and the question popped into my head. I thought about it for a bit, and I thought about using the SENDS and sending the track to an AUX (with an EQ applied to it) and then automate the aux itself to fade out which will inturn fade out the EQ on it rationally speaking without effecting the main output of the track as the output of it is still the same it's just being sent to an aux.

Will that work? I don't want to go to the studio tomorrow and waste time figuring it out.

Add onther track and copy the one you want to EQ to it.

Insert the EQ on the new track.

Automate a fade on both so it does what you want.

all depends on what you're trying to get it to sound like. Both your way and Farview's will give slightly different sounding results.

I'm not sure exactly what you're after, but you could also automate the EQ gain/frequency settings to gradually return to zero.
