How to extract/copy mixed section from longer recording?

Well my first post farted out so let's try this again. I've got a 2 hr live recording where I've mixed a section of it. I want to extract this section complete with mixer and track settings and copy it into a new project to free up some Hard Drive space. I know I can copy/paste mixer settings, but I was wondering if there was a way to do all this in one swoop. Thx.

That's totally dependent on if your DAW will allow you to do it. Some programs do, some don't.

It would be in the manual.
 
Hey John, yeah I was asking specific to Cubase. I've read in the manual for copying complete mixer settings from one project to the next and I've looked for that specific export type function but didn't find it. I'll look again. I was just hoping somebody knew it off the top of their head and could save me some search time.
 
hey guys... i'm really sorry, but i'm new to homerecording.com and I didn't know how to start a new thread to ask this question. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to save your settings in Cubase SX such as number of inputs and showing the full width of the tracks so that everytime i open it up... it's already how i need it to record with my firepod. cause it's a pain in the butt to keep activating all of the inputs and everything every single time!!! haha, so if anyone knows the answer to this question I would be very appreciative!!!

Also, has anyone used the Project Studio C1's for drum overheads??? I am looking to buy 2 good mics for drum overheads, but i'm limited to about the $200 range on each mic!!! I've read reviews in EQ comparing it very closely to the AKG 414 TL-II, so I just would love to hear if any other people have any experience on the subject!!!??? thanks soooo much!!!

Save as template. RTFM!

For the original question:
1. Copy the session folder to a new one.
2. Change the name of that folder
3. open the new session
4. cut away all the unwanted parts.
5. select everything and bounce
6. open up pool and remove unused media and empty trash.

I should've thought of that. You're right, that would be the easiest way and that's what I'll do tonight. Thanks for turning on the lightbulb.

It means "Read The F**cking Manual", because your questions are answered in not only the Getting Started guide, but in more detail in the manual.

I mean how hard is it to start your own topic? There's a big ass New Topic button at the top of the forum. Hit that, come up with your own, very specific, Title for your thread and your off. There's also a FAQ section that goes through everything if you're a little unsure of how to post on a forum.

Why dont you just delete what is before and after the mixed section and save under a new name . Then you will have whole 2 hours with original name of project and mixed section in new project wth new name innit! Then if you want to free up hard drive space you can save original recording to a cd('s) or just delete it :cool:
 
wow, people can really be jerks aye??? nice to know that American culture has been revolutionized for the betterment of mankind... seriously, if you didn't appreciate my question, why answer it??? you don't have to be a jerk off about it.
