You can here it in the beginning. It's like a hum... ground loop problem or something else?

What do you recommend to get as clean of sound as possible? Hum-x if it's ground loop?

Using a presonus firebox with an active guitar DI'd via 1/4 plug.

Thanks!

Can you isolate and determine the source of the buzz first...otherwise, if you want to simply clean that up in the DAW file...then 1.) cut the buzz out of the beginning where there is no music and 2.) use some EQ/de-noise filtering to remove it from where there is music.

Ideally...you want to clean it at the source rather than later, after it's already recorded and mixed in with the music. One piece of gear at a time...plug/unplug...etc...until you find the cause.

There seems to be barely any noise after I unplug the guitar cable from the firebox. But when I plug in the 1/4 cable into the jack, that humming noise is there no matter what is connected to the cable (so it's not the guitar).

I have used a noise gate vst (cubase) and it does a good job but even after fiddling with the settings on it, it doesn't cooperate that well (cutting out high harmonics and sound).

I unplugged every thing plugged in, it's not a ground loop (though I could use a power conditioner... but I don't see that helping at all). Would a hardware noise gate function better than a vst?

Maybe also try some alternative cables, and try moving the guitar away from other equipment.

You know, I did try plugging an XLR cable in and there was no buzz and I was thinking along the lines of getting some sort of passive 1/4 to XLR box. I think that's what I'll do.

I also tried out a few cables, same thing with everyone I tried. I'm think about getting a little mixer, I can use the XLR out on that to "convert" over cables.
