i'm considering to buy these monitors,
one year old...about 400 euro

i've spend months and months searching for monitors

i've worked with TANNOY reveal passivs,
roland and jbl studio monitors,
but i was never enough impressed.

and the EVENT TR 8 has an 8.5 inch woofer,
is more serious for the lows....

but i never heard them, thats my problem....

so what do you guys think about these EVENTS...and what would you pay for a second hand pair ? (in good condition)

thanx for the help,

I watched ebay monitor prices over a long time, and it seems the average selling price was about 70% of new.

I just won an auction for a pair of PS6s from Event. I don't know what they sound like yet.

i got my "EVENT Tuned Reference 8" mùonitors now,
payed 500 euro for them

and damn, i wanna keep them !µ

they can handle fucking loud SPLs and they can handle such deep basses !

i love that, cause i constantly play real drums on my electronic music,
and i don't like headphones....
and also for messing with my drumcomputers......they kick ass,

now its time for me to get used to their sound, so i can start making nice mixes, but that takes time,

but for overall monitors ,,,damn, yes, i like them !!!
so much better and cleaner than all the other shit i worked with,

:)

but i bet i'll start finding out some nasty things about them after six months...

and what did you pay for your TR 6's ?

(i got the 8" woofers :p:p:p)

I paid US$250 for a pair of PS6, which is a little older model than the TR6. I still haven't gotten them from the seller.

They are a little smaller than the 8s, which is OK with me. We'll be spending a long time in Estonia in about a year, so I envision the laptop/US122/PS6s being our entertainment center.

well, i'm starting to really like them,

tested, used and abused them as much as i could the last month,
they sound very nice...maybe not perfectly flat reference, but i'll adjust my ears to that...

yeah, for the moment the most impressive monitors i worked with
(but i'm still young of course)
i'm gonna be working on lots of Mackie hr 828 (nah, something else, but the name should be close....those 8" mackie monitors....)

anyway,i'm keeping these !

ear worm the real test is how well you can compensate for your acoustics in the room to begin with. Trust me this is far worth the money to fix the acoustic problems in your room without doing that your mixes will sound piss poor no matter how good your monitors are, also deep bass in a non treeted room will give you a false sence of bass and you wont hear the true sounds comming from it mixing at lower volumes helps in this area i mean if your thumping a trunk with a sample no worries there but if your dealing with a kick drum or a bass guitar lower volumes is better espaially for tracking also invest in a good pair of headphones that go down to at least 20 hrz to cross refrence what you hear and whats actully there good luck with your new monitors

Be careful when buying used speakers...they may be FATIGUED.

I agree with Bruce, I wouldn't buy used speakers period, especially without hearing them.

true, second hand speakers sometimes are dangerous to buy,
but i just didn't have the money for new ones,
anyway, now i got my basic setup,
i started working a little bit on accoustics, just the simple basic stuff,
and now its time for some more serious stuff,

what would be my first step ?
i noticed that lots of studio's have basstraps

i think that's the first thing to work on: the way my room treats the bass coming from instruments and my monitors.

i see that a bunch of people just have those kinda basstraps on the wall, straight in front of their monitors, will this already make a difference,
or do you really have to treat every wall before you're set ?

i'm willing to spend alot of time in investment, and i sure wanna spend some money on it... but i'm a newbie at isolation and accoustics, just warning you...
cheers,
