In just recording gear, I have a little over $1000 in stuff but I only paid about 700 for it. The computer is another $1200. I have about $1000 in software that I got for free and over $6000 in drums.

I saved alot of money by buying alot of stuff second hand and building things myself including my computer, rack, speaker stands, and almost all my drums.

Total, its worth a little over $10,000, but I have only payed around 7 or 8 grand for it.

must be around £20k with G4 and G5,ibook and all the software cables, gutars, stands etc. just don't let my ex wifes solicitor know!!!

Building (including land) $115,000
Microphones $100,000
Recording equipment (including Mic Preamps, converters, r to r tape machines, compressors, reverbs, signal processors, patchbays, cables, analog & digital mixing consoles, etc.) $150,000
Musical instruments ± $50,000

30+ years of recording, and collecting gear, and I still haven't passed the 1/2 Million $ mark. Especially if you subtract the building...

And YES, this is a home studio. It's at my house, and I don't take money for recording, nor is it open to the public. It's my own private studio, accessible only to my invited friends. I have owned and run small commercial studios in the past, but pretty much the only gear left over from them would be some musical instruments and a few of the mics...

Sonar 5 $500
Mach Five Sampler $700
Mach V Symphony $250
Roland V drums. $1500
Tascam 1082 $750
Key board midi Controller $300
BFD $300 i thhink.
Still under 5 grand i guess. Not so painfull. But mics are next.
It may never end and I'm just beggining.

Don't remember my original post, but it seems like I need a counter like the one in washington that keeps up with the national debt, It just keeps piling up at a magnificent pace.

i couldnt even guess what we have into ours www.tempermillstudios.com

id guess 1/2 a million mabye more.

the building alone was $250,000. than we had it gutted and designed/built from the ground up so as to be acousticlly correct.

I would say I'm in the neighborhood of 5 grand, not counting any instuments I use, but mine isn't necissarily home, it is in three roadcases and a cable bag, and goes wherever I need it. Also I got alot of my gear wholesale or cheap used, and built my computer on my own, so I guess street value is in the 7-8 grand range.

It's actually kind of painful adding all of this up.

Mics $19,500
Outboard $23,500
Instruments $39,100
Amps, Effects $ 7,300

Total $89,400

Not counting software, computers, cables, racks, stands, stools, etc.

Ahem. A black hole. :D

hi there, just seen the tempermill website, man what a place!!

all the best'

Dez

$13,900. i kept track. and thats MANY wholesale (or used) prices. i work in a music store...

thats only a year and a half of serious spending. i cant spend any more until next august unfortunatly (although ive been shipping stuff to my store and sneaking it home).. i have save money for the stupid future! i dont even want to go! and i have to buy a car next june too... ill spend $300 AT MOST and use the other $4700 on something worthwhile. :)

I shredded all my receipts at the point I hit $20K.....no paper trail for GF to stumble upon. :D

yeah my ex knew i was makin money and i couldnt do anything about it.. that sucked.. my new rule is to never let the chickas know how much money i make/whats in the bank/invested in the studio...

the relationship went downhill from there.. she wanted me to spend money, i wanted more sex, i didnt really want to pay my girlfriend for sex..

orksnork,

For some reason, I like the sound of your name. ;)
ha...

so are we considering women as investments now?

thats good, its like the stock market..;

ugly chicks are cheap, they dont want much. they're glad to have you. cheap shares.

hot chicks are demanding and expect things from you. expensive shares.

when the relationship ends, that company just went bankrupt. so when exactly do you get your divedend? when you get married? thats not fun...

hey if i did my girlfriend IN my studio, does that increase the value?
