A million billion dollars.

Maybe not that much but if I got $5/hour for all the time I've spent on my studio, I'd be swimming in LINCOLNS!

Hi All,

Home setup here...I did a quick calculation and it comes to around $12,000 right now....and my car is worth about $2,000  :D

Best,

Uh... Yeah... Thats bad.

My personal equiptment come to $5304 including cables, stands, computer, screen, speakers, amp, microphones, and interface.

Though I have daily access to a studio equipted with just about $500,000 not including room treatment and actual building.

My car... Eh, what can I say, I like BMWs... :D

Don't you guys keep an inventory?

I built a spreadsheet that has the name of the gear, the date purchased, purchase price, and serial number. It also totals the purchase price so I keep a running tab on how much I've got in my current setup. Whenever I buy or sell gear I update the spreadsheet. Very handy thing to have.

Keep the receipts and serial numbers too. Because when tah band that you just recorded comes back very early on Sunday morning and empties your studio into their van, you will be glad that you can a). prove to the insurance company that you really had all that gear in your garage and b). if you ever get to seee the gear again, you can identfy it from the serial numbers.

Whilst you are doing this, check with your insurer that all the gear in the garage is actually covered under your house policy...

I'm curious to see how much the "average" HR'er has invested in their studio.
I guess we'll use "Price Paid" for the poll, but feel free to go into more detail in your post....

we swim dailly through a see of debt with strange shark like creatures wearing suits & name tags chasing us around with court orders.............NAH not quite to that extent but we've payed a lot

I don't know how many dollars we're talking cos' I'm here in sunny??? scotland

~~turnitdown~~ I couldn't agree more with your sig. sorry BS fans

Slidey :D

~$1000 in software
~$500 in interface
~$1500 in mics
~$1500 in pres
~$750 in monitoring system
~$250 cables/stands
~$2000 in instruments
----------------------------
~ $7500 total

All together, including acoustic treatment, and design of the studio?
$68,000

I dunno. What I do know is that I've spent more on dope, booze and cigarettes than on recording/musical equipment in my life, and that is probably not a good thing.

If I was to pull a number outa my hat, though, it would probably be in the neighbourhood of $7,000-$10,000 CAD.

just a thought. I probably have 10K invested just in cables??? it never ends

There's should've been an option for "I'll tell you when I'm done!" :D

... or a "monthly contribution" category.

For instance, I purchase between $100-$300 in music gear a month! ;)

I've probably spent at least $4000 since this thread started!

I invested $2,670.00 in my studio checkout my results

yep, that vote right there shows a classic bell curve, simply amazing. I feel like a cheap bastard investing in the 0-500 range... but thats without instruments

I had no idea how much of an investment cables can be! And no matter how much you spend on them, you never have enough!

i used to have a studio that was probably worth about 3 grand in a basement...
now, a few years later, ive been ripping up my new house and making a studio...on gear alone, in the last week, i've dropped like 8k

Heh, feels like tax brackets. When I first voted on this way back, I think I have gone up three brackets and 6 credit cards.

ive finally become able to control myself and not spend money i dont have. everything ive bought was on a credit card, but then i just went and paid it later that day (helps the credit along)

my main problem comes with the money i make when i record...i can't help but take every cent of it and spend it on more and better gear
