Curious? - Whats the going rate most people charge these days for time in your home studio?

I try not to get into it to much but every now and then a little session can help get that new bit of hardware i'm after.

Really it can easily depend on the artist booking the time. Close Friends? Usually want/need cheaper than the going rate. Strangers? Going rate. Familiars with no idea of wtf they are supposed to be doing? Going rate or higher if its too frustrating to work with them and they don't take to your direction and help. I have literally had dudes come to the studio and just say push record. They just yapped indiscrimminately for 4-5 minutes. And then asked "how was that?"
When I said, its not a song! They said, "You just not feeling my style". I said, Pay up. have a good day!
lol
watch my video n tell me what u think of it, please

i'm glad someone put this up.

I've been asked to record my first demo/EP, and I was leaning towards $20 per hour. This kind of helps

Depends on your experience, your rep, your gear and your attitude.

My base rate is $35/hr.
If I like you, I'll work out a flat rate and I'll typically make a little less in that scenario.
If I don't like you, you'll find that my studio is "booked up!"

This is my business, but it's still a home-based studio. That can be tricky sometimes.

Oh- I will work for beer :drunk: or gear!

There is something to be said about charging what you think you're truly worth. this article is slightly pessimistic but discusses things to consider when setting studio rates.
