home recordists and outside engineering seem to be a conflict just in itself. I think that most home recordists, like myself consider the studio as much an instrument as their guitars, and prefer to twiddle the knobs to their own preference. The amatuers that really suck, I am sure would welcome more experienced help, but they probably would just go to a pro studio if they weren't involved in it 100%. Mastering is another subject, and I, like probably many others would have it done outside of the home, if the project warrented the extra expense. Otherwise, you live with your "home brew" master until the occasion arises. I don't think many here posting are looking for opinions on their prof. mastered stuff, as the decisions have been pretty much made at that point, and changes are kinda out of the question...especially urged by internet opinions on a message board such as this. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. I think people are looking for feedback on how they do it THEMSELVES....not how the studio they hired did.
