Was it easy on the uptake?
Does it take a while to convert?

Been looking at a Schecter C-7... damned purdy guitar!!!
Also considered the C-1 EX baritone, but I think I'd prefer to keep the extra high notes... if at all possible...
Seems a lot of places are having trouble keeping the C-7 in stock.

yeah to me it was pretty easy to convert but sometimes i tend to get a little confused while tunning

Ive played one several times, and although I don't know about learning songs for a 7-string, I do know that you can still play normal songs on it just the same, with exception to a chord that requires your thumb to reach around and play the low e, for normal songs it doesnt make a difference.

I have an 8-course lute, but I bought it as a repair project and thus it remains :(

7 strings are the BOMB. After taking a year or so to get used to it, I'm not looking back. Think about how many times you've played in standard tuning...you're playing some nice deep chords and then you reach for the "D" chord--BOOM...instant pussy sound. Now, you just slap your thumb on the 3rd fret of that magical extra string and dreams of not playing like a curtain shopper become an instant reality. That being said, here's what you have to watch out for:

1. Block off that floating bridge. Seriously, tuning these with a floater just sucks balls.
2. You're not gonna find too many moveable barre shapes that use all 7 strings.
3. Trying to avoid that B string when you just wanna rock out old school by smacking that E repeatedly isn't as intuitive as you might think.
4. You get to relearn the modes.
5. 7 strings aren't just for nu-metalers anymore. The clean channel chords you can play with these things can sound pretty godlike. Watch out when you're recording them, though...that low string has a tendency to muddy things up if you're not careful.
6. You're bass player really gets pissy when you write a song in B minor, because now, you go as low as he does. Time to buy a 5 string!
7. EVERYBODY that plays my guitar hates it. "The neck's too fat." "I can't even tell where I'm at." "My dick is a lot smaller than yours." Etc. They do take a little getting used to.

Everyone wants my seven string...they love it! i hate that the damn neck is heavier than the body lol

Schecter

The Schecter's that I've played were all really nice guitars, but as far as 7 strings.. I played a Dean 7 string, an Ibanez K7 and I do believe a Warlock 7 at one time or another.. They're pretty nice but I couldn't get used to the extra string being there.. I'd like to get a Schecter Damien 7.. Bat inlays and EMG H4's.. MMmmmMMMmmMM..

Over at cacaphony-central, there are a couple reviews (lower end models) of Schecters having issues with necks warping within a few months.
Do you think these are isolated incidents, and just possibly a guitar not being kept in a constant environment (humidity/temperature constant)?

They also whine incessantly about the "stock" p'ups, presumably not the SD's or the EMGs...

no. but my main guitar used to be a baritone 5 string (tuned in 5ths, 27 frets). back when i played...heavier music.
