Roland xp-80 keyboard workstation tracks to Fostex vf80. I come back and track guitars and vocals.
What I used to do: Get my best mix( roland,guitars,vox) into the vf80. Bounce as needed to add tracks. Mix down to tape on my cheap little home stereo.
What I want to do: Bring audio from Fostex DAW into Mac G4(933mhz/250mbRAM/40HDwCD/Burner) to burn CD's of what I already have and also, to bring foxtex tracks as well as roland midi tracks to the desktop for mixing and mastering.
So I bought Audiowerk 2 card w/MicroLogic AW2 3.7.4
Today I went to Guitar shop (a euphemism) and asked for midi cables and SPDIF and got a lot of blank looks. With this, and all the misundertanding between Mac and PC, I was a lil cautious about buying the USB/midi conection my confused brother offered me.
Technically it seemed to make sense. Because after installing my logic software it seemed determined for me to declare either my modem port or my printer port as my MIDI port. I was confused because I thought my MIDI port would be part of the sound card.
However, having a relatively new Mac, a USB connection made sense, and it made further sense when I thought about this whole printer port/modem port stuff.
Guitar Shop guy says to get SPDIF at Radio shack/Best Buy. Where do I get Midi cables that run into the RCA type connectors that run into Audiowerk 2 Card?
With what I have now and what I've spent. Is there anyway for me to go forward from here? I can't just track out from vf80 to audio _IN_ on sound card? to load tracks and mix?
So many question.. head...spinning....
