How important is subject matter in songs ?

Minds going somewhat awry is uncomfortable subject matter that Syd Barrett wrote about in "Jugband blues" and "Vegetable man", ironically as his mind was unravelling. The latter is a pretty horrid song that, as far as I'm aware, has never been officially released {it has turned up on bootlegs though} while the former truly is a psychedelic masterpiece.

To be honest, I don't think it is. It gives a very unbalanced feel to the thread and I think some important aspects are missing because of it. It's more like a movie with random bits cut out with little thought to the flow of the movie.
That's not a criticism of the mods who are only doing what they feel is right. It's just that I think that constantly deleting posts that have been replied to looks really weird and takes away from some of the things that barryc/wilburS/misterjones/Murt/Greg_I/whoever else he or she will be tomorrow had to say that did offer some useful food for thought, that silly "Miroslob" post not included.
That should be deleted !

If you used a stainer on all the posts Mr. Sybil has made recently....you might end up with a couple of grains of "useful", if that.

Yeah I agree. If anything it's like a movie of a bunch of people talking about how stupid the commercial that just happened was, with the viewer not knowing what commercial they're talking about.
 
But that's only important if you really care about the commercials you're missing! :D

True, but one can debate or pick up threads on even a couple of grains.
That said, I was thinking less of this thread than others.
There again, maybe it's my fault. Some of these these threads I've started recently seem to have unchained the dark side of humanity........:yawn: :D
 
I like that the mods delete his posts because it underscores the insignificance of what he's had to say....and that's deservedly so, since this has become a test of wills between him and the mods who, will have control.
He’s not the first troll to try that.

The posts that we've quoted, are areminder of just how out of control he's become.
 
There is that I guess. He's a bit like Sillybee but unlike the bee, does have some interesting points to make.
 
Hey, me and kcearl called miroslav "miroslob" a long long time ago. It's easy, it's low hanging fruit. So I'm at least 5 years ahead of barry. At least.
 
I heard that one back in my high-school days....so it doesn't phase me all that much anymore. :D
