Songs that sound the same as others

I heard a song today - link below. It made me think of the I believe I can fly song, and as it played I was singing along with the I believe I can fly lyrics. But when I listened to the R Kelly version, it doesn't sound that similar. My question is that I thought it did, but was it just the chords? Clearly different melody, key, tempo and style?

Listen to the Lainey Wilson song - Watermelon Moonshine, remember the R Kelly song and make a decision. Then go off and see how different they are. In my head it was a blatent copy - but it actually isn't? I'd be interested to see if any of you also jumped to conclusions, and why?

It's been around for quite a few years. It started with a 6 song mashup from all the different artists that I should have posted. The guy took all the parts and ended up with a full song.

Listen to Common’s “What Do You Say” and then listen to Warren G’s “Regulate”. As a disrespecter of most rap, I still much appreciate high-production hip-hop because it goes FAR beyond the unmemorable cliché of rap.
