Hey guys,

I have a Lexicon Omega external interface. Currently I am using ASIO4ALL with my recording software. It works awesome.

However, I would just like to learn what is going on here.

Couple questions:
1. Let's say I have a new computer (none of these drivers installed yet). Can I JUST install ASIO4ALL and then use my Omega with it? If not, why?

2. How is the signal being processed? (ex. Omega -> manufacture driver -> ASIO4ALL -> Recording Software??????)

I guess what I am trying to figure out is what is the difference between ASIO4ALL and the manufacturer's drivers?

If I don't install the man. drivers, then my computer doesn't recognize the device....so I am not really sure where ASIO4ALL comes into the picture.

Can someone help?

I have the Lexicon Alpha ASIO Driver. I heard it's basically a second sound card. It takes the data thats being put in and converts it so that it can be transferred by USB.

I am not sure if thats correct but it seems logical.
