Sorry, MrQ, I meant Behringer stole nothing when it comes to 797 mic design. I KNOW they *liberated* (possibly unknowingly) other well known designs.

You have regained your sanity my brutha'! :D

Wow
Just returned from working away, thanks for the info. Just saw the B5's around and wondered what they were like, i know they're near the bottom of the pile but was just curious. Keep it coming and thanks for the offer of the trial mics.

We can't take apart the C4 and show you inside photo's because they have pictures of naked ladies inside..... ;)

We don't want to turn this forum into an XXX rated one...Do we?

Sure, Why not?! :D

Wow, hyatt lightens up, who's next? ;)

Well, no stores around me carry the b5. But I just found a 35 year old reel to reel deck mic that looks really cool and even has the mic stand adaptor on it, so I'll be busy for a while trying it out on everything and looking for some character. Feels like I just saved money on my car insurance! :)

Oh, and I opened it up really easy if anyone wants to see pictures of that inside, just let me know.

Well... out of curiosity, I'd be interested in seeing photo's of inside the C4 and B5.

Me too

Maybe someday we will.

BTW Don, do you like a good hi level discussion about mics, go here:

I can't imagine having to endure the sorrow you feel. My prayers are with you and may God bless you always.

Yes Chris, may the good Lord bless you with His peace. PS... keep up the good faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. :)

I meant to post this to the other thread. I must have had both threads open at the same time in separate browsers. I wondered what had happened when I didn’t see it there so I posted there as well.

Oh well, it's no big deal Flatpicker... and I'm sure Chris appreciates your kind words to him in this thread and the other one.

Here's an interesting post by Erik I read on another website... link http://studioforums.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=1436041581&f=1526095781&m=693105817

If you purchase a pair of matched pairs of MC012, from the soundroom or www.studiosolutions.se or digitalaudioservice.de, you are sure to get a pair that is matched to +/- 0,5dB.

We measured SP C4's that had differences of +/-4 dB and the distributor would not offer replacements... So, calling C4's a matched pair is not sticking to the truth entirely.

I'm leaning towards the mxl 603s since I have a v67 and I like it. So it won't turn into an omni, I know I don't really need that right now since I'm into stuff where I need the separation and not sure the room is any good. But I just did a track I finally like where I used the v67 for voice and same time, a sm57 for guitar. I'm surprised how much I like it. I'll post it tonight.... I'm thinking of improving it by swapping out the 57 for the 603s.

from my experience, RODE made NT4/NT5 first. around at 2002.
SP C4 and Behringer B5 come to market later,
so I am wondering , Sp C4 /Behringer B5 is a clone of NT4/NT5?
where NT5/NT4 capsules are made?

a friend happend to have a NT5, I can see that the inside part of NT5 capsule is the same as C4/B5.

I live in Europe, and I can get the Behringer B5 for about $100 here, while I have to order the MLX 603 at music123.com while I can't find them at any dealer in Europe (does anybody know one?).

The MXLs will cost me about $150 including shipping...

Which one should I opt for if I want to record Acoustic Guitar with them only?

Thanks,
Stan.

Thanks, nice to have a good Dutch site (as I live in the Netherlands :))

Any sites with a SINGLE MXL 603?
Or would the Berry B5 be a better choice anyway?

Thanks
Stan.

I just got a b5. I really like it. It's quiet and the omni cap is really nice. I can get many tones out of that mic. I auditioned it w/ the same cheap Fender acoustic for consistency and the presonus tubepre to my mr8 for about 10 minutes. Didn't try the low cut yet.

If you want a lot of options and you can only afford one SDC mic, it's a good choice. Omni and Cardioid caps come with it. If you had to use it for vocals, you could close mic for some lower end if vocalist knows how to work the mic, or even try it in omni. I'm impressed.
