How do you test your room.

Noone needs to post an essay here if you dont want to. I basically am asking if testing your room for any buildup and such is done with some kind of meter, or what. My needs arent demanding the perfect room acoustics, but Id like to know if it is something that I can test for in an afternoon with a rented or purchased metering device. It would be nice to know where I stand acoustically.

Thanx for the link. I guess Ill have to check it out later, after I get some sounds out of my computer. I moved to my studio and my sound isnt up yet...
