I have a cd with an instrumental id like to record over, how do i do this. Do I need to hook up my cd player to my zoom mrs-1044cd, or what? Thanks, by the way please no technical language im an extreme newbie. Lol!

First, don't double post.

To anwser your question all you would have to do is record the beat of your cd on to one of the tracks on your recorder, then record your vocals on another track.

I'm not sure the specifics of your unit, but if it has a CD-ROM you might be able to import the song as a file. If it doesn't have a CD-ROM then hook up your cd player to the line in on the recorder and hit record.

Well sorry about the double post, my internet messed up and i thought it didnt post the first time. Thanks for the response.

You'll need to do an import from you CD drive..to one of the stereo tracks (9-16) Then do your vox on one of the mono channels (1-8). Seems like if I remember the MRS1044 correctly, you'll have to do some digging through the tedious menu's on the unit to get to the import function.

Yo Milan:

Easy way to use CD backing music and do a vocal or whatever:

Record the CD music on a track.

Play back the music and practice the vocal.

Overdub vocal on another track.

Voila=you have it. I've found that most CD musical backing tracks are balanced and eq-d; thus, you won't have to mess tweaking the music. You just have to tweak the vocal if necessary.

Green Hornet  :D
