Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and pretty new to recording. I've been doing acoustic work for the past year, but have found it less than satisfying. I want to move into some effects work.
So, below is a link to a short (about 1 min) promo video an old friend's band made for their current tour. I know all of the stuff they do is pretty standard, but I have no idea what it is. See my questions below it.

4. is that a pad setting for the underlaying tone at the beginning?
5. what effects are used to get the overall feel?
They are an awesome band I highly recommend. Their new album is being released in June.
Basically I just want to know how to achieve this sound as it is a little like what I am going for. Thank you for all your help!
