How do you connect you ref monitors to your computer?

I have a question. For those that connect their reference monitors to your computer, how do you do it?

y cable...two rca's to a 1/8 plug...but that's coming from my sub...what kind of monitors do you have?

Some monitors will plug in directly also. Deopends on what you have. Mine are powered, and will plug in directly, and also have digital in.

Well With my Monitors I simply plug the Channel 1 output from my Delta 44 into the left Monitor and the Channel 2 output from my delta 44 into the Right Monitor......

I will eventually get a Subwoofer and how I will connect that is something that i don"t have a Clue as to.....

"reference" subs have all the connections on them usually so you have outputs for your L/R monitors out from the sub

I have Rokit 5's. If you look at the picture I attached it shows how mine is layed out. The reason I ask is because I just recently hooked these up and as soon as a make the connection to the monitors, I can hear a constant hum. I made sure the volume on them and my computer wasn't set at max (which could produce that hum). I'm just wondering if I am missing the obvious or if I need a better sound card ( I have the one that came witht the computer).

Well there are a Few Reasons why you might experience a Humm in your Monitors the First being that your Sound card is Createing the Noise as many Cheapo sound Cards will Pick up the Electrical Noise from your Computer and other electronics....

Another reason could be that you are useing Non-Shielded Cables and you are Picking up interference...

You could also have a Grounding problem with one of the devices in your audio chain.....

Problem solved!!!!

Turns out I wasn't using good enough cables. My monitors are hooked up and I'm ready to go. Thanks for all the help!!!!

I had the Same problem when first hooking up my Monitors...

I was useing RCA Cables with a 1/4 in Adapter and they seemed to not work very well so I made a couple Patch Cords with a Male XLR on the end so I could hook my Delta 44 to my Monitors and now everything sounds great...

I"m glad you got it worked out....
