Oh yeah, that attack attack band is so trendy sounding it's not funny. But it's got the sound of today's ROCK radio. That's what a lot of the kids like these days. Sorry to all the Grandpas and Grannies here at the home recording dot com forums, but your music isn't cool anymore. :D

Thank God. Being cool is for losers.

Yeah pretty much. Whip out your auto tune and pod,axefx,etc... because here comes swarms of sub par musicians.

I don't think it makes them less of a musician just because it doesn't suit your tastes. All music came out the same way. Parents thought Elvis was too "Far Out" back in the day, but all the kids loved him. Now we look back and think he's pretty tame compared to most of today's "artists". At one time rock n roll was considered noisy stuff and I think of it as easy listening. It's all the same ability to pick up an instrument and play the music you like.

Lol. someone likes them some attack attack.

No I don't like it. It's totally mall core. I just don't think playing rock, punk or blues requires more skill unless you're talking about lead guitar which easily defines skill, but then again it's still all the same shit.

I think "skill" comes in to play when making any genre sound honest and believable. Technically speaking, punk or blues is easy to play. It's not easy to fake though. Metallica tries to play punk covers all the time. They totally suck at it. Punk bands can't play the blues. Etc.

The problem, for me, with this attack attack modern *insert name*core shit is that it all sounds fake and contrived. There's nothing edgy, scary, or heavy about bands like that. It's very cookie cutter. If I encounter Killswitch Engage in a dark alley, I'm walking out with all of their wallets. They're all just cliche driven shit. Bass drops? Still? That shit was stupid when it was new.

yeah I agree with you, but they're just doing thier thing. As long as they don't do it around me I'm cool lol. Not like I'm forced to listen to their music.

I like the Amplitube Plugins. I have the whole collection and you can get just about any sound you want. If you're like me and you don't have the money to buy a few really nice 2 or 3 thousand dollar tube amps to be able to get a variety of tones it's a nice soultion. Of course the demo versions suck and you might not like them at all. I really like the Fender and Ampeg plugins although I don't normally work on music that uses most of the plugins. It's still fun having so many different tones to play with. I would love to have 5 or 6 different tube amps though :D

:laughings:

I believe it!!! :D

I didn't want to offend any of the death metal bunch...but that's what I was kinda alluding to earlier in that other thread when I asked FoulPhil how much of death metal was really serious and how much of it was like a lot of other stuff...where they put on their "game face" for the show, but otherwise at home, they watch Oprah in the afternoon! ;)

If you heard said bands live it would be a different scenario. Singers that just plain suck (attack attack is a perfect example), drummers that can't play even remotly as good as the recording because they were edited to death in the studio etc...

Apparently it's not cool to tell someone they suck anymore, hence that half ass singer in attack attack.

And yeah yeah it's their music, that's not what rubs me, it's the completely poor execution. If I didn't know first hand the amount of time the producer/engineer spent polishing turds in this genre I probably wouldn't rag on bands like this so bad.
