I just start using CEP (I hope this is the right forum for these questions).
How do I:
1.) Move a wave block to a different track?
2.) If I have 10 secs in front and 5 secs at the end of no sound that I want to trim, how do I trim it so that all the tracks are trimmed exactly the same?

Also I have recorded 4 instuments, 1 on each track. I am not exaclty sure about this panning ( I am used to a mixer where it just moves the from left to right).

When I play a track in CEP and pan it, I don't hear the sound moving from left to right, it just goes dead when I go to one side. I know that I am not fully understanding this feature.

I apply all my effects by switching over to wave edit mode and applying it to a specific track, correct? This will allow me to put different effects on different tracks, right?

Lastly, if I want all the tracks to have the same amount of reverb should I just mix down then apply the reverd to the 2 tracks or create a preset and just apply it to each track individually?

Thanks. As you can see I am new to this world but it appears to be fun :).

"How do I:

Right click and drag.

"2.) If I have 10 secs in front and 5 secs at the end of no sound that I want to trim, how do I trim it so that all the tracks are trimmed exactly the same?"

Ask somebody else. My way's cumbersome. Do it one track at a time in Edit View, though.

There are two pans in Cool. There's the main one you set to the left of each track, the small space with the 'P' on it. Right click on this to bring up the pan dialog. There's also a variable pan function you get by clicking on the R/L button and the 3 white squares buttons at the top of the page. A blue line will appear in the middle of each track. Click on the blue line a drag it off center to pan the track. If you're doing it right, but you're not hearing the panning, then I don't know.

Yup.

"Lastly, if I want all the tracks to have the same amount of reverb should I just mix down then apply the reverd to the 2 tracks or create a preset and just apply it to each track individually?"

Track by track if you want different amounts or kinds of reverb on each track. Just to the mixdown if you want everything to glue everything together with a single verb.

Answer for #2

Cut to the beginning of the wave, noting time. Cut in edit view all tracks to same time. Then right click and slide them over.

Hey thanks guys the info was very helpful.

I am still having panning trouble but I am going to call Maudio and see if there is something I am doing wrong or not have setup right.

Thanks

petimar - if you click on a wave in Multitrack where you want to cut it, it'll highlight that position for all the tracks, of course. If you then switch a particular track to Edit, it'll keep the cursor position on the track, enabling you to mark the exact cut you want.

If, after you carry out the cut, you then switch back to Multitrack, you can repeat the procedure with each track. But with my version (1.2), I have to toggle back and forth between Edit and Multitrack an extra time to get the cursor position highlighted on the new track I want to cut.

If that makes any sense at all. :)

and for good measure.. you could add a QUE MARK (by pressing +) at the spot you are cutting.. just in case you lose it.

Panning Left/Right

Dig, is your sound card one that shows your input/outpu channels as Left/Right pairs, or individual channels? You may have both your outputs assigned to one side in CEP.

If your sound card just has a stereo output using a mini-1/8th-inch plug, make sure it is firmly pushed into the socket. It is easy for these to pull out just enough to float the ground or short the two outputs together.

2.) If I have 10 secs in front and 5 secs at the end of no sound that I want to trim, how do I trim it so that all the tracks are trimmed exactly the same?"

I would trim it after you mix it down to one track. But that's just me.
