Does anyone know how i can sythesize this sound or something similar? Can it be done with softsynths, if so which ones? Do i need a sound module? I already own an evolution 249c so i don't need another keyboard. Any ideas? cheers.

Native Instruments' Pro-52 has a preset that sounds almost identical to that.

Check out the demo.

It's something very similar on the JV1010.....

Isn't that like a 5th'd lead or something?

The key to programming a timbre like that is fast modulation of the Pulse Widths of you oscillators (2 or 3 preferably) set to (mostly) squarewaves. Detune osc 2 an 3 a bit for a tad of dissonance, and use a high cutoff and a fair amount of resonance.

I'd really recommend the Pro-52 since you requested a soft-synth, and it has loads of presets similar to the type of music in the clip

I would start with a synth brass patch with fast attack and decay. Add a second voice tuned up a 5th and add a touch of distortion to the whole patch.

I would think most soft-analog synths could do that.

I'd check out Absynth if I were you... fun stuff.

Thanks for your help. I am looking into your suggestions. cheers

Let's play name that tune!

Ummmm....

4 strings. Take me away?

Chrisjob has nailed it with the PWM suggestion. Almost any analog/VA/ or softsynth capable of PWM can pull that off. You may need to play around with high-pass filtering the sound as well, and some distortion would help.

Absynth has a patch calld DnB Junky that would be a good place to start as well. If you have it, and have a sampler, sample that patch and HP filter it, then distort it to taste.
