Hi all,

I tried to burn a backup copy of an audio CD today but my CDR drive would not read it. If I put the CD in the CDRW drive it read fine though. This is not a usual problem so it must be something about this particular CD my CDR drive does not like.

Anyway, I thought I would copy the CD onto my computer hard drive using the CDRW drive and then burn those files onto a CD. I tried drag and drop but that did not work and neither would copy. How do I get the audio CD data on my computer hard drive? Thanks.

CD ripping software will get the music on to your HD. There's lots about, do an internet search. I use the ripping feature of the Goldwave audio editor, but there's probably stand-alone software.

 Yo Duty Rudy:

In a pinch, you can patch the CD music into a recorder, DAW or PC and go from there.

Green Hornet :D  :) :D

Thanks all for the suggestions. I downloaded Audiograbber off the web. It seems to have done the job.

I use Nero Express, that came with CD burner. Extremely simple to use.

Has a Wizard to "Copy CD"
--------------------------------------------
1) Click on "Copy CD" option
2) CD drawer will open, and you put original CD in. It will copy to HD for you. The CD door opens when this step is finished.
3) Put blank CD-R in. Then, it will copy from HD to CD. When finished, it will eject the newly created CD, and delete the file from the HD

Everything is prompted, and very east to use.

I use CDex. You'll find it on the internet. It not only copies cd audio to HD, but compresses it to MP3 files. Check the size of your CD audio files......there huge. One CD will take about 500 MB. MP3 files are much smaller and will take about 50 MB for a CD.

This is not hard to use at all. Just read the instructions................

Go rip them CD's. Have fun. :)
