How did Soilwork get such a huge sound on "stabbing the drama" and how did Killswitch Engage get such a huge guitar sound on their "The End of Heartache" album? Anyone have any links or anything about the recording of these albums? Let me know, thanks.

A lot of the huge guitar sound is a ton of layers. When my band recorded at a "real" studio there was something like 12 guitar tracks or so for each guitar part. It was insane, but it ended up sounding so thick that you couldn't cut it with a knife.

Sorry I can't help more.

Redundant, redundant instruments. A lot of the big names layer on at least a dozen of any one instrument. Some even do it live. When Andrew W.K. was on SNL, he had 5 guitarists playing the exact same thing, and it sounded awesome!
