Installing a trim is no easy task. You'd better have some good wood working tools if your going to do it. All kinds of things could go wrong. You could take out too much wood or ruin your finish.

If you really want to do it yourself try stewmac.com they have videos on most repairs and projects. It would be worth the money as it's easy to ruin a good job.

is your guitar already routed through for a Floyd Rose Type.
i've mounted whammy's on two of my guitars
1) Kramer (Kahler) More difficult to install. I had to route the front surface of the guitar. The Guitar already had a cheap Floyd Rose.Whammy Locknut
2) Melody Maker (Washburn Surface Mount) Whammy Locknut
I've played both of these guitars for over ten years in clubs and both stay in tune within reason, but both also have locking nuts.
If you're careful, and take it slow (measure twice, cut once) it should work out OKay.
