How add click/drum track in Sonar?

I want to import an audio track(wav or mp3) which has a missing drum track,
and make a midi drum track.
So is there an EASY way to add a midi click track, other than trial and error
(trying to slide the audio track and midi drum notes around to line up)?
I know I can slow down the audio track using time stretch, but still getting everything in sync is the problem.
Also, is there any way to make the audio track fit the measure markings
properly?(or would that be impossible?)

Thanks.

so you have different tempos in one song? If not, lining up a few seconds should be enough for the whole song. Not sure.
About the measure marking thing, since it exists there's gotta be a way. Sounds like a trial and error job to me.
Also, how do you make a midi drum track? Yeah I'm a newbie.

First off, was the original recording done to a click track? If not, the timing is probably not exact and you will probably never get them to align completely.

If the original was done to a click, you simply need to find the BPM of the original and set Sonar to match.

Like was stated earlier, if the song was done to a click before, you can do it. If not, well...good luck.

Sonar has an audio or midi metronome. Personally, I use the audio metronome. I don't know why, I just do. Just go to View and select the metronome toolbar. From there, you can tap tempo the beat and try to get a feel for what the tempo is. Then it's just experimenting to get it dead on. Of course, if the track wasn't done to a click then you're hosed.

Thanks for all the input.

Yes, the original was done to a click track, and no tempo changes.
I did try tap tempo. and metronome, and trial and error track sliding(quite a very labor intensive procedure);but thought maybe something easier and faster could be done.

Dachay, finding the actual BPM is not that easy because tap tempo using
a mouse is not that accurate.

I agree with you Myriad, and like the audio metromome much better than the midi one.

Paga, once I have a clean synced up click track, adding the midi drum track
should be very easy. The best way is to have midi drum pads, and if you
don't have that, a velocity sensitive midi keyboard with multiple passes.
