Purge

Traitorous Usurper
So I thought I would get some recording done before work today. Got everything plugged in, tuned up, and turned on and started going to town. I played a fairly decent take, and I thought I'd give it a playback and see how it sounded.

Noisier than shit. Rabid cats don't hiss this much.

Adjusted the noise gate. Moved the microphones. Same results. After a few hours of this, with my sound becoming crappier with each take, I decide to turn everything off and stare at my machines with a vacant "WTF?" expression on my face for a good 10 minutes. Everything's hooked up properly and I can't figure out what the hell is going on. Suddenly, it occurred to me that something wasn't right.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think I can hazard a reasonable guess that the background hiss might have been from the two maintenance guys outside my open window using chainsaws to cut up a dead tree.

Now that I know I'm too stupid to be a musician, I'm going to apply for a job at Taco Bell. I deserve no less.

Next time wait for a road crew with some jack hammers and try rolling off the bottom end :)

An electric welder is also a serious noise inducer if you are near one when playing the guitar.

Never record whilst being mutilated by an axe murderer.

I speak from experience.

It's good inspiration for screaming vocals, though.

Were you the axe murderer or the recorder? I've been on both sides of that equation and yeah, it's a complete bitch.
