Ok heres the deal: I have the omni studio/Delta 66 PCI card. I have a yamaha EMX 2000 Mixer, shure drum mics, plenty of 1/4 audio cables, a pc to hook all this up, PA speakers, headphones.

I would like someone to help me set this up. I want my mixer to work with my computer somehow. Either through the omni or derectly into the delta 66 card. I have no idea what to do from here. I have software but i dont know howto use it well. Please explain some of this to me.
Thanks - Joe

Well I can at least get you started.

First of all, the Omni Studio has some pretty decent preamps in it, I would guess better than your mixer's. So, if you are recording a critical track, or doing some stereo recording, I would use the Omni's preamps and forget about the mixer.

But what if you're recording, say, drums or a full band? Then I believe the thing to do is use your mixer's preamps and do a sub-mix - that is, mix down what's going to the mixer to two tracks, left and right. Then, you can use those 1/4-inch cables to run from the stereo outs of your mixer into the "line ins" of the Omni. In other words, the two "ins" on the front of the Omni have preamps inside, so you would not want to put something coming out of your mixer, which has its own preamps, into a second level of preamps.

Does that help at all? If you don't know what a pream is or why you would use one, then.... we need to start at a more basic level. But generally, Omni is good for its two preamps, and you can even blend that with whatever is coming into its "line ins" from your mixer. Get it?
