can somebody tell me if i have my small recording studio set up correctly? i have a small studio room that i use for my own private use and personal enjoyment. pictures can be seen at my site, http://home.neo.rr.com/newrock/.

i have a 16 channel mackie mixing board that i run through an eq, compressor, then a crossover. these go to my two power amps for the lows and mids/highs. i record drums(3 mics/tracks) through the mixer and send it to the recorder through the sub outs on the board. then i record vocals the same way. i run my bass head(line out) directly to the recorder, and my guitar amp the same way.

i also have a 75hz sub woofer out on the main board, but i am not sure what to hook it to. it says in the manual to run it to a power amp or a powered sub woofer, but from looking on the back of my amps, im not sure where to put it.

I don't understand your question - are you having problems with monitoring? If your sub is working with the crossover & two amps, don't mess with the output on the desk; it sounds as if the desk has a built-in crossover, so you actually have a crossover you don't need - but if it works then it's not 'wrong'.

I'd also suggest miking your guitar amp, and probably your bass amp as well - you'll be amazed by the difference if you havn't already tried it.

sorry if i sound dumb, i want to make sure everything is correct so i can play music and not worry.

i dont think the desk(if your talking about the mixer board) has a built in crossover, but i will double check at the mackie site. so it is right to run through the eq first, then the compressor, then the crossover, and to the power amps, in that order. it does sound good so i wont change anything or mess with the 75hz sub woofer output.

i wanted to check because i dont want to mess anything up, i cant afford new stuff. i am going to try mic'ing the guitar and bass and see how it sounds recorded.

ps. im not sure if im having problems monitoring unless you mean if i can hear anything. it cracked my ceiling downstairs, so it monitors real good.
