Could Someone please tell me what I need for a small personal Studio FOR VOCALS ONLY
I already have the

MICS

SM58

I wanna get a nice Studio mic im not sure what to go with tho people tell me these ones

Rode NT1...Nady SCM 900 MXL please listed some good but reasonable mics i only plan to use them for vocals THATS IT something with crisp yet warm

Im getting a Alesis Drum Machine for my beats

what sound card should a buy I plan on using my card for vocals and making beats with the drum machine.

what mic pre-amps are good

I just need a list of things that I will need with prices nothing toooooooo Expensive but nothing cheap nah mean I just need something to get me started off on the goood foot please respond ~1~
 
I've heard NT-1 2 times on a recording.
Once through Presounus Bluetube on female vocals where it sounded great.
And then through the B'ringer tube mic pre on male vocals where it sounded nasty.

So go figure :)

But people say it's a very harsh sounding mic.
I'd deffinetly go for the C1.
But you should try it out first if you can.

Is that all what kinda of Pre-amp should I get?

Art Tube MP Studio? what should I get I need a whole ste up list that includes the stuff i would need besides software..headphones..monitors PLEASE
 
soundcard...Delta Audiophile 2496....I have one....

Mic...I second the motion on the C1 and also recommend the Marshall MXLv67....

preamp....many of them will "sound" different.....I would wait until I get the mic, bring it down to Guitar Center or Mars or etc. and listen to a few different ones with the mic and choose the one you like the most...the Art is a damn fine preamp, but you may be after a different sound than it will give you...use your ears.....
 
I'd say. Get a mic-pre with a good reputation and the features you'd need/like. Then find a mic that suits it. Rode NTK, Rode C1000, Sound Projects C1, Marshall V67, Audio Technica AT4033/4050, AKG Solidtube, Neumann TLM-103... the list goes on...
 
OMG! I disagree with Mesh....our first fight:D

I say get the mic first and find the preamp that compliments it best.....or better yet, get them at the same time trying out different combos of mics/preamps....only problem is alot of the mics with better cost/performance ratios are hard to find in stores (Marshall, Studio Projects).....thats my only reasoning for getting the mic first....Ive heard both the Marshall and the SP on many different voice types and they always sounded really nice.....so they are pretty safe buys...that leaves the preamp as the only variable and you can find many of the better performers in most stores.....
 
I have several large diaphragm mics to choose from. The one I find myself getting the most vocal use male is an ADK black 5001 I think is the model. For females it's usually a 414. One is about $500 the other about $800. It's all about what sounds the most musical to your ears. I wish I could say I had just one favorite but the truth is I don't. When my budget only allowed for one mic it was a 58. That's really the only good bang for the buck I know. The rest is all subjective.
