hi guys. this is my first post here so please be gentle
im in the process now of trying to pick up some gear so my band can get some good quality recordings done in my basement. i've been doing a ton of research over the past couple of weeks, but im looking for opinions wether this should give me a "good" sound or not or if i should be looking in other directions.
currently we're using a cheap radio shack 4-track mixer going to the line-in on my computer soundcard and being recorded with sonar producer 4. the card can record at 24bit/96Khz (m-audio revolution 7.1) and the os is winxp. this setup works ok, but the quality of the recorded music is really tinny, no bottom end, etc. overall fidelity is really low. this is what im thinking of getting..

this mixer has the rca tape-out on it which im guessing would go to the line-in on my soundcard (with rca -> 1/8" adapter which i already have). would the rca out be the best quality connection going out, or would it be better to get a xlr adapter and output this to the pc instead?
we currently have a couple decent mics, but i was thinking of getting a drum mic package like below
http://www.music123.com/Audix-FUSION-6--Drum-Package-i43841.music
anyone had any experience with these mics? im sure their not the best money can buy, but im more trying to get a good solution on the budget i have (about $1000 for everything)
bascially, just trying to get as many opinions as possible before i go start spending. rather ask the dumb questions now then end up with gear that im not happy with.
thanks!
