Hello, after a week of practicing and reading I have finally connected my korg D8 to my pc which has a cdrecorder, using the audio jacks. I have saved some of my music in a wave file on my computer but I have not burned a cd with my music on it.

I have been trying to learn how to get the distortion out of my music when I play it back on my korg d8 recorder. With my korg digital piano connected to my korg d8 I have been attempting to master getting the sound to come out right on each track before I put it on the computer. It is a lot to learn but I am really doing my best to grasp all information that will help me.

My purpose is to be able to record my music with my digital computer into my multitrack recorder and then connect to my computer using cakewalk 9 or some other software and burn my cd's.
Any suggestions?

How much GAIN have you got on your initial buss in to you computer?
Digital is very clean, but also very unforgiving in terms of too much gain creating distortion.
Anybody.....??
 
Hmmm....

You do have to watch how loud your sound is being recorded. Once it gets too loud with digital is sounds horrible.

Usually recording gear and programs have volume meters of some kind that show how loud the signal is. With digital you never want it to hit the top of the meter, but you want it to get as close to the top as you can.

The tricky part here is that you have to set your levels correcly between each device you are transfering your music between. You have to set the level right on the d8 when you are recording the piano. Then you have to set the level correctly on the computer when you are recording the tracks from the d8.

If you are using a PC, you might find its audio level setting software in Start -> Program Files -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control.

I'm not sure if that's what your challenge is, but from what you've said it sounds like it might be.

??????? I am unclear on that statement.

You want to record into the computer, to dump back into the Korg, to dump back into the computer?

Please, clarify. ;)
 
she wishes to use the midi function on her computer, output that to the d8, then mix it with analog stuff. put it back into the computer for burning to cd.
