Hollow/tinny sounding vocals (not sure where to post)

Well it's only a part of the recording that is the problem, not the whole thing so I'm pretty sure it's not the vocalist. And it comes after the 3 second mark I believe, I think I'll need to take it somewhere anyways. I appreciate the help!

Perhaps recording a steady tone or tones for a duration and noting how / when / if it changes. Cheap mics can be extra sensitive to the room or it's orientation to the sound source. A difference of 6" or less could be huge in terms of recorded results. Which could be as innocent as the performer shifting their weight from one foot to the other. Or coming back from lunch and standing in a slightly different spot. Some of the more expensive mics can be expensive because you have a more forgiving distance and off axis factor.

Or the mic could have issues. Or the cable. Or any one little thing in the entire chain. I had the screw on 1/4" tip to my headphones get loose and that caused an odd monitoring session. Only to find out that it was that when packing everything up and noticing it. Otherwise I tend to be back from a mic a good 18" to minimize any distance quirks. But I'm not a vocalist and don't need the extra gain or proximity effect of being right up on it.
