Hiss noise from my Event TR-8

Whenever there is no audio playback on my TR-8's, there is this non-stop hiss noise being produced from the monitors. I'm using a cheap unbalanced cable(1/4") for the monitors where it's suppose to be balanced. Is this where I'm making my mistake?

DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! i have the same exact monitors. put some nice balanced cables and presto!! nice and clean sound. if you continue to have problems contact their support. they are awesome!!
