Forgive a drummer ignorant of most things concerning keyboards.

I needed a small keyboard to add simple parts to my recordings, so I bought a used Yamaha PSR 530. The problem is that, when hooked directly to my Korg D16 for recording, I get a lot of hiss. Is this simply the nature of amateur keyboards or am I not hooking it up correctly. It has aux outs in back which I am connecting directly to the preamps on the D16. I am also wondering if I can maybe buy a small module like an Alesis Nanosynth, use the Yamaha to control it and record direct out from the module. Will I still get hiss?

Any input is appreciated.

The korg should have a dedicated jack you can plug directly into, (like a guitar) from auxillary out from the yamaha...if that's the way you're doing it, should be no hiss unless a.bad cable...b.treble eq set way high on the korg....c.volume control on the yamaha set way high...I know those three things sound way simple, but you shouldn't be getting any hiss...hope this helped......gibs
