Upgraded my Road Runner to the higher speed. Depending on the server I connect to for downloading I get around 15megs. Upload is still locked at 712kbs. But the donload is very very nice when Im not capped per the server Im downloading from. Nice with games !!! Here is the stats of my latest speed test.

pretty quick, indeed, but how much cabbage? i already feel like time warner is ripping a new one for my "up to 5mbs" (advertised) connection, which incidentally, has never EVER hit that speed (usually more like 3.5-4mbs down, and 300-400 up, in round numbers of course).

now, they are talking about testing a new pricing plan based on usage. yes, like electricity and water. Dog help us!

did you ever wonder how a piddly dial-up company could buy one of the biggest media and telecommunications companies there are? they shouldve been upgrading their infrastructure----- i mean, in 2002, the company had CASH EARNINGS of around $10 BILLION (from business week). are you getting nauseous yet??

incidentally, the "Base cost" of standard RR without any of their cable or stupid digital phone packages is $44.95.

EXACTLY THE SAME as it was when i first got the service around 2001. of course, the connection was more like 1-1.5mbs back then.

kind of like cd's. they were $15-18 in the 80's, they are $18+ now. (full retail, of course). now *i* am getting nauseous.

Wow, I've always wanted a faster connection (40 KBPS upload speed is crap), and I never get above 800KBS/sec for downloads.

It's the same for both Knology and Comcast. I've always wanted to try Comcast's Business connection, but I don't know how much it costs.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for your Roadrunner service? I've never used them.

For anyone who thinks that this is literally 15 megabytes/s down and 600 kilobytes/s up, it's 1.8 MB/s down and 77 KB/s up.

Yep.

Got a package deal for two years. Phone/Hi-Speed/HD Tv All channels and one premium 107.00 per month. I was forking out 45 - 60 for my phone service alone. And 45.00 for road runner (6meg). So my savings are rather good.

Yeah, cause it's megabits per second. ;)

That's still double what I'm getting.

$100/mo is real good for all 3.

Edit: My test results on speedtest.net were:
Download: 6618
Upload: 342
Ping: 179ms

Welcome to the darkside!

I used to have the "elite pro" (6mB) DSL and it was quick on somethings, but overall for the everyday I didnt notice a huge difference on web pages etc. Lets face it, the Internet is not that fast and most websites throttle DLs anyway. I now pay 19.99 for my 1.5 mBit DSL (thats the standard price btw, not promotional pricing) and happily pocket the $40 difference. It is hard to beat my att bill every month which is a land line, DSL, and two cell phones for $125
