High street price of American Telecaster

I don't know how many people from England visit here and will be able to help me, but basically I need to know the kind of price an American Telecaster sells for in a high street shop (in England). I've seen prices online but they are generally cheaper than in real shops. I would prefer to try out the guitar I buy, so the online stuff doesn't interest me. I don't have any close musical instrument shops I can just pop in to to check, but I will be venturing out to the nearest few I know of to possibly make a purchase. I'd just like to know in advance. Thank you!

recently on craigslist.org , New York City, I have seen a 71 fender tele for seven thousand and a 63 tele for 12,500 both from the same gent. I emailed him and asked him if he was serious and he told me he just sold a tele, what year I cant remember, for five thousand and that he was dead serious.

A nice Tele is easily worth $1200.

I don't know if its available there, but look for a G&L ASAT. Might be better priced and a superior ax.
