You could always run the Cue output to a headphone distribution amp. Likely that would be what you need to do anyway. Uh oh, more money.

Yes, absolutely. That's kind of the point and well worth it. You'll get unadulterated, pure high end reproduction.

Not trying to be redundant, but have you changed out the cables before blaming the Knob? Sorry but many times it is something simple that causes crap like that...

I would see the volume knob going out before in intermittent short of the outputs. Not like there are many moving parts to wear out on the thing.

I have Big knob and at some point I had similar problems of one channel dropping. At first I thought also that it might be because of bad cables but in my case it turned out to be Input source/monitor select (don't remeber) switch being dirty.
