I think that's what it's called is there a link around that could tell me more

obviously there is but I don't know if I've got the name right or if I'm talking about something different

It is apparently one of the only substances that succesfully treats most of the freq spectrum

yours in ignorance

6 and 8lb mineral wool is very effective across the spectrum in a 4" thickness.

If you want something that cuts a little cleaner, you can use 6" of good old OC 703.

Acoustical cotton is also a good option in appropriate thicknesses and has no issues with reflection of high frequencies when they hit at shallow angles like some of the more dense materials do.

The appropriate choice will depeing on your budget, your desire for workability, and what and where you plan to use it for (bass control, broadband, reflection points, general ambience control, etc.)

interesting

FTR I constantly work on a negative sum of money (Ican't stop buying stuff!!!)

But use for would be vocals & acoustic guitar & occasionally brass/wind (not often cos no one plays any brass in the studio)

but I'm hoping at the moment careful placing of the reflexion screen from SE/electronics will help

No my control/mixing room is seperate from my vocal space

just that I'll be recording acoustic as much (maybe even more) than I'll be recording vocals
