My drummer has a 3-tom set-up of two tom's on the rack and a floor tom.
In recording this particular drumset, there were not enough microphones to cover all the drums, so one microphone was used to pickup both the high and mid tom's on the rack. the mic was placed half way in between the toms, and picked up mostly attack and high end due to it's inability to cover the center of either drum head. the result is a higher, more distant sounding tom. i have tried EQing to fix the problem, and while this fills out the bottom range, it does not make the tom's sound spatially closer in the mix. any ideas (without using delay, since the leakage on the other drum tracks of the tom's tends to not mix well with a delayed track) on how to fix the 3-d audio image of the track and fill out the bottom end?
